SCOTUS requires a specific format for Writ of Certiorari. Rule 14 specifies that the paper size must be 6 1/8 by 9¼ in. The cover must be white (Rule 33.1(g)(i). The typeset must be Century Expanded, New Century Schoolbook, or Century Schoolbook, 12-point type with 2-point or more leading between lines. Footnotes must be 10-point with 2-point or more leading between lines. Quotations exceeding 50 words must be indented. The text of the petition and the appendix thereto must appear on both sides of the page. Rule 33.1(b). Both the Petition and Appendix must be bound in a booklet. The Circuit Court’s files (uploaded onto electronic Case File (eCF) system need not be included in the Appendix, except the Circuit Court Opinion, Magistrate Judge’s report and recommendation (if any), and District Court orders.
